Elisa Ruano Velasquez
Founding AttorneyElisa Ruano Velasquez is an immigration attorney with a deep passion for representing people who might otherwise go unheard in the justice system. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, to Guatemalan parents, she has always wanted to help bridge the gap in the immigration system. She earned her B.A. in Government and Politics, with a minor in Spanish Language and Literature, from the University of Maryland, College Park, and graduated magna cum laude from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law. As a student attorney in UDC's Immigration and Human Rights Clinic, she and her co-counsel won an asylum case for a family of five from El Salvador, an experience that confirmed her calling to fight for immigrants and keep families together.
She also gained public interest experience through UDC's General Practice Clinic, CARECEN, and the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office. Elisa went on to earn an LL.M. in Advocacy from Georgetown University Law Center and worked as a fellow and then Staff Attorney at the DC Affordable Law Firm before opening her own practice. Outside the office, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. She lives in the Rockville, MD area with her husband, son, and two French bulldogs.
Steven Gomez
Chief Operating OfficerSteven Gomez is the Chief Operating Officer of Ruano Law Group. He brings more than 14 years of experience in finance, including work as a financial advisor, and that background supports the firm's day-to-day operations and growth through strong financial management, client service, and organization.
Steven handles accounting and billing, answers incoming calls, responds to prospective client inquiries, and coordinates Attorney Elisa Ruano's meetings and appointments. He also manages the firm's social media and content marketing, along with firm events and community outreach.
Working closely with the attorney and staff, Steven helps keep the firm organized, responsive, and accessible, so clients have a welcoming and professional experience from their first inquiry through the life of their case.
Rosario Calderon
Senior ParalegalRosario, born in Lima, Peru, is an immigration paralegal with more than 20 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate the U.S. immigration system. Throughout her career, she has assisted attorneys and clients with a wide range of matters, including family-based petitions, adjustment of status, naturalization, consular processing, humanitarian relief, employment-based immigration, and removal proceedings.
Known for her attention to detail, compassion, and client-focused approach, Rosario works closely with clients from diverse backgrounds to make sure each case is prepared accurately and efficiently. Leticia Chavez Gomez
ParalegalLeticia Gomez has more than 14 years of experience assisting attorneys and clients with a broad range of immigration matters, including removal proceedings, appeals, humanitarian cases, VAWA, waivers, U and T visas, fiancé visas, bond cases, and consular processing. Her work includes case preparation, filings, case management, and client communication.
Leticia is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in justice studies, which has deepened her understanding of how the justice system and immigration agencies work together. Over the course of her career, she has grown professionally and gained a clear sense of what the community needs.
Deeply rooted in the immigrant community, Leticia is passionate about helping individuals and families through an immigration process that can often feel overwhelming and complex. She approaches every case individually, with compassion and a commitment to supporting both clients and the attorneys she works with. She sees the impact this process has on people's daily lives, and her goal is to provide dependable support and make sure each case gets the care and attention it deserves.
